Weekly Classes for Children:

Lessons are offered across a wide spectrum of media, teaching a variety of skills and techniques. Students will bring home a completed Art work almost every week (some things take 2 weeks to complete). Teens work studio-style and may be working on several pieces at a time. In Term 2 every year, ceramics will be on the program.

P-Yr3 ... 5-8 yr olds ... Mondays: 4-5.15pm

Children up to Yr 3 will be engaged in Art and Craft activities which are varied and enjoyable with activities to suit their age level. They will be encouraged to learn skills and techniques which will lead to completed Art-work each week.

Yrs 4-7 ... 8-12 yr olds ... Tues or Wed: 4-5.15pm

Children in these groups will be engaged in Art activities which are varied and enjoyable. They will gain a thorough grounding in Art Theory which will inform and inspire their art-making across a wide range of media, skills and techniques. They will be encouraged to work towards completing Artwork each week or fortnight.

Teens - Thursdays: 4-5.30pm

Classes for Teenagers will see them work-shopping more advanced skills and technical development and give opportunities to experience different mediums and media areas. Art theory will inform and inspire the students as they consider organisation, composition and refining their own ‘style’ and personal aesthetic. There will be scope for students to pursue their own ideas and projects as they are encouraged to work towards resolved artworks and/or gain extra tuition to complement the students’ own school's Visual Arts programme (where applicable).

Classes will be enjoyable and students will grow in confidence and ability throughout the year.

Teens aged 16 and over are encouraged to come to Adult weekly classes.

Lydia, age 11.

Classes for Adults:

Morning - Tues and Thurs: 10-12noon,

Evening - Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs: 7-9pm.

Enrolments open now for Term 1 2018

These classes will cater for both beginners and more advanced learners, with much encouragement given. We will cover a variety of drawing, painting, print-making, ceramics and sculptural techniques and teach skills required to produce resolved artworks. Each term there is a different media focus (see 2018 program below). A Visual Diary would be beneficial to bring to class to record ideas, discoveries and progress. Most work-shop materials will be provided in the cost of lessons, but as we progress, participants may like to purchase materials and canvasses of their own as they work towards resolved artwork. Students will be able to access guidance and direction at whatever they wish to pursue.

Term 4 Adults: Painting in Oils: ‘Monet’s Garden’.

This term we will go back in time to the romance of the world’s beautiful gardens. Claude Monet (1840- 1926) was an Impressionist Artist who lived out his days painting in the midst of the lush garden he created in Giverney, France. He is renowned especially for his beautiful, ethereal waterlily paintings. If you are new to oil painting (absolute beginners are most welcome), you will be instructed in procedures and stepped through various techniques as we work through a ‘sample’ painting together, before moving on to your own work. We use an odourless solvent in the ArtAbility Studio so there are no overpowering smells and no messy clean-up.

Paints, mediums, paper, equipment is all supplied.

Additional canvas costs apply.

$150 for the term of 9 lessons ... refreshments included.

Take the time each week relax and make art.
