These classes will cater for both beginners and more advanced learners, with much encouragement given. We will cover a variety of drawing, painting, print-making, ceramics and sculptural techniques and teach skills required to produce resolved artworks. Each term there is a different media focus.A Visual Diary would be beneficial to bring to class to record ideas, discoveries and progress. Most work-shop materials will be provided in the cost of lessons, but as we progress, participants may like to purchase materials and canvasses of their own as they work towards resolved artwork. Students will be able to access guidance and direction at whatever they wish to pursue.

2019

Term 2 Adults:

Acrylics: Circling the Landscape.

Looking at the work of Queensland Artist William Robinson AO this term as our inspiration. Born in 1936 in Brisbane, Robinson is a painter and lithographer. After an illustrious career as an art educator, he retired in 1989 to work full-time on his paintings. His work has been inspired by the typical Australian Farmyard the Bush and the Rainforest particularly around Springbrook in the Gold Coast hinterland.  He has won the Archibald Prize for portraiture twice:

first in 1987 for Equestrian Self Portrait, then in 1995 for Self-portrait with Stunned Mullet. He has also won the Wynne Prize for landscape painting in 1990 (The Rainforest) and in 1996 (Creation Landscape – Earth and Sea).

We too, will explore our own environments, both real and imagined to produce paintings in beautiful, free-flowing colour.

If you are new to Acrylics or are a more experienced artist, you will learn new and exciting ways to move the colour over the canvas and ‘pull out’ a painting and resolve your work with a few mixed-media techniques and additional mediums as an added bonus.
