2018 TERM DATES
See full calendar below.
As space allows, it is possible to join any class during the term and a pro-rata fee will apply.
Lessons are offered across a wide spectrum of media, teaching a variety of skills and techniques. Students will bring home a completed Art work almost every week (some things take 2 weeks to complete). Teens work studio-style and may be working on several pieces at a time. In Term 2 every year, ceramics will be on the program.
Children up to Yr 3 will be engaged in Art and Craft activities which are varied and enjoyable with activities to suit their age level. They will be encouraged to learn skills and techniques which will lead to completed Art-work each week.
Children in these groups will be engaged in Art activities which are varied and enjoyable. They will gain a thorough grounding in Art Theory which will inform and inspire their art-making across a wide range of media, skills and techniques. They will be encouraged to work towards completing Artwork each week or fortnight.
Classes for Teenagers will see them work-shopping more advanced skills and technical development and give opportunities to experience different mediums and media areas. Art theory will inform and inspire the students as they consider organisation, composition and refining their own ‘style’ and personal aesthetic. There will be scope for students to pursue their own ideas and projects as they are encouraged to work towards resolved artworks and/or gain extra tuition to complement the students’ own school's Visual Arts programme (where applicable).
Classes will be enjoyable and students will grow in confidence and ability throughout the year.
Teens aged 16 and over are encouraged to come to Adult weekly classes.
Lydia, age 11.
Enrolments open now for Term 1 2018
These classes will cater for both beginners and more advanced learners, with much encouragement given. We will cover a variety of drawing, painting, print-making, ceramics and sculptural techniques and teach skills required to produce resolved artworks. Each term there is a different media focus (see 2018 program below). A Visual Diary would be beneficial to bring to class to record ideas, discoveries and progress. Most work-shop materials will be provided in the cost of lessons, but as we progress, participants may like to purchase materials and canvasses of their own as they work towards resolved artwork. Students will be able to access guidance and direction at whatever they wish to pursue.
Suitable for beginners and more experienced artists.
Working in oil paint on canvas, we will look at the painting styles of various artists to find one that ‘suits’ us. If you are a beginner, this is a great opportunity to use oil paint for the first time and be guided into correct technique. More experienced artists will be able to ‘stretch’ themselves to use new techniques as we paint our own ‘Portraits of Life’.
Learn how to handle oil paint, expand your skills and break free into beautiful painting.
Paints, mediums, brushes etc supplied ... canvasses extra.
Join us for this 9 week program in which we will look into the world of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928-2000). Colour and pattern are features of his work in both architecture and painting. We will learn how to handle acrylic paint and work with a range of mediums to create a variety of effects.
$150 for the term. Paints, mediums, use of brushes and refreshments included. Canvas costs are extra.
Come along, participate, learn, grow, enjoy and have fun!
ENROLMENTS are now open for 2018 ... Limited places available.
